The Texas Education Agency and the state's new-ish education commissioner, Michael Williams, are pointing to two new reports that show the state's students doing well.

The first is a report that says Texas ranks 13th in the nation in the percentage of 2012 high school graduates taking Advanced Placement courses and exams. Students who take these courses can "place out" of college courses they might otherwise be required to take, such as freshman English or first-year Spanish. Read More
